I bring this map with me every time I hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Although the free map provided at the park entrance is pretty good overall, it does not include campsite locations. This map does, and specifies which are group and pack animal sites. This information helps me scout out future camping locations when I’m doing day hikes. It is also of a sufficient size that you can get a pretty good idea of the lay of the land. The symbols, notations and legends really provide a lot more information than GPS maps.

What I like:

  • All-inclusive, detailed map of the park
  • Shows hiking trails, shelters and campsites
  • Has clearly delineated topographic features and well-defined treeline
  • Includes mileage notes for most segments of trail
  • Waterproof

What I don’t like:

  • The map is a bit large and can be inconvenient to use in windy conditions
  • It costs money, where the free park map is, well, free

Where to buy:

  • Support your local Colorado Front Range outdoor stores, bookstores or buy at Amazon
